CD Case 01 - Dark Side...

EDIT: The case template was modified: I added staples and a small plastic marking on the opening side that I forgot to put initially. As I've modified the case template, I had to apply these changes to this case. I also did a few tweaks to the anti-aliasing to make it a bit smoother. Colours are now up to 40-something, but I'm not to concerned with colour-count in these pieces; staying within 8-bit is good enough.

ORIGINAL: I decided to start a little ongoing project for myself involving pixel repoductions of cd cases for interesting looking albums. I started with a template for the CD case, and once I had that done I decided to try a simple cover design for my first one. Nothing gets much simpler, or is as recognisable than Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon," right? I went a little overboard with the number of colours (36) for something so simple... but when working with a prism involving gradients, a beam of light, and a rainbow (all bright coloured and at low, jaggy-pixelled angles) on a black background, a significant amount of anti-aliasing (all done manually, of course) is to be expected.

The next case to be added, continuing with the Floyd cases, will be "The Division Bell." It is taking much longer than anticipated, being that I've spent a couple weeks off an on, and I'm only about half-way done; but I anticipate it will turn out quite nice when I'm all through with it. It is a very complex and artistic cover, and if you've not seen it before I suggest you google it just for fun.
